Private Yoga Lessons with Suza Francina in Ojai

Private sessions offer the opportunity to address questions and concerns that there may not be time for in a group class. The individualized attention of a private lesson can help you understand how to use yoga so that your practice is truly healing and nurturing.

If you are a beginner (or new to Iyengar style yoga) private lessons will also help to prepare you for group classes.

Private lessons can be structured various ways. I can plan the lesson around any questions you may have; how to use props; how to use the yoga-wall ropes; how to set-up special props for Restorative Yoga, Supported Backbends, Supported Inverted Poses, etc.

If the lesson is held at your home or office, I can show you how to use walls, doorways, furniture and various common household objects, to deepen your yoga practice.

In a private lesson we can focus on a specific category of poses: Restorative Poses, Standing Poses, Forward Bends, Back Bends, Twists, Inverted Poses, Lying Down Poses, Hip Openers, etc.

Private lessons are highly recommended if you have back, neck, knee, shoulder, wrist, or hip problems or are recovering from surgery or injuries. Or if you are coping with health issues such as chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, arthritis, osteoporosis, parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, heart disease, high blood pressure, headaches, etc.

I also teach yoga for scoliosis, all ages, including children and teenagers.

For women: Yoga for the menstrual cycle, the stages of pregancy and the stages of menopause.

As part of the lesson, I will recommend a personalized sequence of poses to practice at home. One or more follow up sessions are recommended to fine-tune the postures that were given in the first session and to add any other appropriate postures. Follow-up sessions are available daily, weekly, monthly or even yearly as is appropriate to your proximity and individual situation.

Tuition for Private Lessons
at Suza's home studio or your location in Ojai
(Effective July, 2008)

Students who have attended Suza's group classes regularly for at least a year may arrange for private lessons @ $100 per session. (Four pre paid lessons: $350)

Private lessons for new students are $150. (Four pre paid lessons: $500)

A pre paid series of lessons can be scheduled daily, two (or more) times a week, weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, or other arrangement that meets your needs.

Sessions are generally 90 minutes, depending on individual needs.

There is no charge for rescheduling private lessons, so long as you let me know in advance.

If you like, a family member or a friend may come to observe. Sometimes it is helpful to photograph special prop set ups to help you practice at home.

Depending on individual needs, private lessons can sometimes be shared with up to three compatible people working at approximately the same level, at no additional cost.
(Note: No shared lessons for students with pain, injuries or special medical needs.)

In the spirit of yoga, please feel free to discuss sliding scale fees and special payment arrangements.
