About Suza Francina

Suza Francina is a graduate of the Iyengar Yoga Institute of San Francisco. A yoga teacher since 1972, Suza has taught at the Omega Institute, Yoga Journal Conferences, and other venues, nationally and internationally. She is the author of six books, including four popular books on yoga for people at midlife and older, translated in many languages: Yoga for People Over 50 (Devin Adair, 1977); The New Yoga for People Over 50 (Health Communications, Inc., 1997); Yoga and the Wisdom of Menopause (HCI, 2003); and The New Yoga for Healthy Aging (HCI 2007).

Suza’s memoir, Fishing on Facebook: A Writing Yoga Memoir published in 2012, is the first in a series of “writing yoga” memoirs.

Suza was born in 1949 in The Hague, Holland, and is of Dutch-Indonesian heritage. She lives in Ojai, California, where she is a former mayor and three-term Ojai City Council member. She is a life long community activist, an animal advocate, and a mother and grandmother.
